i started looking at a couple of red harrings which took me no where. at one point i thought it was because of a missing mysql.sock file but making changes in that area didn't seem to help overall i think if i had better understanding of docker i would have been able to come to this result sooner I don't know docker had the different modes of how to handle networking I think there is bridge, host and something else
